Wondering whether or not you should have a large bridal party? For many brides and grooms, less is definitely more.

We have all the seen the wide range of bridal party numbers, with as many as fifteen and as little as one or two. Grooms especially do not seem as picky when it comes to their groomsmen numbers, often content with a best man and maybe an old friend or two from college. For brides on the other hand, bridesmaids can be a big deal, and it is only natural to want to include as many special women in your life as possible. If you find yourself trying to decide whether or not you should expand or tone down your bridal party, it helps to keep a few things in mind.

Are You Prepared to Hurt Feelings?

It goes without saying that should you choose to have a small bridal party, some of your friends may wonder why they were not chosen to be involved. While many friends understand, you will always have one that may be offended by your decision to exclude them. If you choose to have a large bridal party on the other hand, you don’t have to worry about this as much. There is plenty of room for your closest girlfriends along with a good friend of the family or two.

Are You Ready to Keep Tabs?

By choosing a large bridal party, you instantly have many guys or girls you need to keep track of. You not only have to keep tabs on their fittings, but you also need to make sure that everyone is where they need to be on the big day. Although you may have a wedding coordinator helping you with these kinds of details, more people taking photographs and gathering for the ceremony can be overwhelming and leave you flustered with so many people to keep track of.

To avoid this, many couples opt to keep things simple. Less people will simply mean less hassle. If you don’t want to single people out and it’s very important to you to include everyone, then arrange a larger bridal party. If you’d prefer easier coordination and would like a small, intimate bridal party, try choosing a maid of honor and maybe one or two close friends, then wrap it up. Either way, things will work out—but for the sake of your happiness on your big day, choose the option that will eliminate any unnecessary stress.
