Unsure of which dress train length is appropriate for your wedding? Use these tips to find out!
Are you having a hard time figuring out how to choose the perfect dress train length for your wedding day? Before you can accurately decide, it is best to know each length and the type of weddings they are used for. You should also be aware of the disadvantages of the different dress train lengths. All of these considerations will help you while figuring out which train length is right for you.
Duster or Sweep
Duster or sweep trains are the shortest length available. These generally extend about a foot from where the dress touches the floor. They have become increasingly popular because of how easy they are to manage. Unfortunately, they may not be appropriate for more formal weddings.
Medium or Chapel
Medium or chapel length trains are also rather popular and are very easy to manage. These generally extend about 3 ½ feet to 4 ½ feet from the waist. It is ideal for most weddings and you shouldn’t have too many issues with stepping on it after the ceremony. Keep in mind, this type of train is not usually suitable for formal weddings or for outdoor weddings. Your wedding location will have a big impact on the right train length for your wedding day.
Cathedral Train
The cathedral train length extends 6 ½ to 7 ½ feet from the waist. It is most commonly used in formal-style weddings. It is much more dramatic than chapel and sweep length trains. Unfortunately, they are also very difficult to manage. You will most likely require the assistance of your bridesmaids in managing your train, and you may want to consider having it made as a detachable train so that you can remove it after the ceremony. Some may require elaborate bustle designs, which are beautiful but very time-consuming to utilize.
Monarch Train
Monarch trains are considered any trains that are longer than a cathedral train. These are rarely used, except in royal weddings. These types of trains are impossible for the bride to manage on her own. While not really necessary for most weddings, it is a train length factor to consider if you are having an extremely large, elaborate wedding ceremony. Keep all of this in mind as you search for the perfect dress train length for your wedding day.
