The ceremony location for your wedding has the power to set the mood for the entire day, so make sure you choose a location you are happy with!

Choosing the right ceremony location for your wedding day can be just as intimidating and time consuming as it is when picking out your reception location or deciding on the perfect dress. When it comes to the bigger decisions for your special day, the choices can be downright overwhelming, especially if you aren’t sure what you’re looking for.

That’s why it is so important to have an idea of the theme or style of wedding you’d like to have before you commit to a ceremony location. Even if you choose a location that will host both the ceremony and the reception, the ceremony will immediately set the mood for the remainder of the event since it is takes place before everything else.

For many brides, having their ceremony at a church or a place of worship is mandatory. If you are a bride who has her heart set on a little white church, first consider whether or not you’d like to pick one based purely on the look of the building.

You may pick a church that you don’t attend if you like the style of it, although you may have to discuss the details with the clergy or their administrators to make sure there aren’t any special requirements which may restrict you from getting married there. You can also always get hitched at the church you grew up in or at the church you currently attend, and then simply work around the look and style of the interior and décor—even if it’s not your cup of tea.

If you have a very unique location in mind—whether it’s a particular beach, a lakeside retreat, or even a glacier in the Arctic—plan ahead. That cannot be stressed enough. Determine the kind of atmosphere you are going for, and book it well ahead of time. This gives you plenty of time before the big day to decide on flower arrangements and other décor you’ll need to match the special ceremony location you’ve chosen. Whether you choose a historic theatre or a traditional Roman Catholic Church, choose a ceremony location that will enhance the romance and celebrate your individual personality and style.
